Goals

Writing about my weight loss journey made me start thinking about some of the current goals I have. I briefly mentioned a few (weight loss, marathon, leaving Chile) but I want to document them here to help keep myself accountable. Feel free to ask me about any of them at any given time.

1. Save up $40,000 by November, 2009.
2. Leave Chile for our trip around the world no later than November, 2009.
3. Pay off $5,000 a year on my student loans.
4. Run a marathon before we leave Chile. The marathon doesn't have to necessarily be in Chile, I'm not even sure if they have a big one here. I know there is one on Isla de Pascua (Easter Island) but it's really expensive to get there. Easter Island is to Chile what Hawaiai is to the U.S. And the biggest factor is that they only accept 40 people each year. I don't really fancy coming in 39th of out of 40th in my first (and possibly only) marathon.
5. Weigh 56 kilos by December 16th. I currently weigh 60.6 kilos. If you don't know how much that is in pounds use the Google converter, it's the coolest. Just type in Google, convert 56 kilos to pounds and the answer will come up. You can also use it as a calculator. I guess most of you probably knew that by now but I only learned about that insanely useful feature a few months ago. Anyways, this goal is a joint goal I'm doing with Raquelin from Three Day Blog.
6. And last but not least, I really want to start a diet/fitness/health/celebrity weight related topics blog. Why haven't I already done this, you ask? It's because I can not, for the life of me think of a name!!!! I've been pondering for like a month and can't come up with anything. Suggestions are welcome.

So those are the things I'm going to achieve in the upcoming years.

SOunds like some awesome goals! I love our 101 list. GL running a marathon. There are some great training programs online. Here's a list I found in SA- http://www.marathon-world.com/south-america.php

I don't have suggestions for a name for you blog but I would love to read it...so hurry up----pretty please.
A friend of mine just finished a grueling marathon. I have so much respect for that. I hope you can find one. I think that you goal list is great. I am going to steal this list idea one of these days! I always do fitness goals but never the other things that I want to do.

Is the $40,000 for the trip around the world? That's an ambitious goal, but certainly something worth aiming for. :)

I used to set 5 goals every year - one for each category from health to finance to personal growth. I should do it again because it was really a good way to focus on the things I wanted to accomplish.

How about "gettingskinnyinchile"?

Or how 'bout Getting Skinny like Chile, geographically speaking...no?

Another angle: Chile has worse child obesity than the US. (Gotta love it: a third world country with first world problems, just for good measure.)

So how do you get skinny in that environment?

Good luck with your goals kyle!
I read your blog since I decided to improve my English, that is my own goal.
My “teacher” abandoned me and I am trying to get a new friend to e-mail with. So if you or someone else wants to help me with that, I will be grateful. danielverao@hotmail.com

Amanda, thanks, I will definitely be checking out the link :)

Rach, I'm trying!!!

Kristy, I do like your suggestions but I don't really want the whole premise to be based around weight loss, I want to base it around health.

Nicky, I would definitely not choose Chile. Mostly because job opportunities in my field are hard to come by down here and also because when we have kids the education here is not great. I'm also spoiled and I want to live in a first world country.

Jenn, yep, the $40,000 is for the big trip. We figure $20,000 a person should last us a year.

Jayna and Chileno, I have thought about both those names before but really getting skinny wouldn't be the main focus of the blog.

Daniel, I'm so sorry but I don't have time to email on a regular basis. I can barely keep up with this blog plus emails to my family from the U.S.!
