Peloton!!!

Call me crazy but I am thinking about trying out for a Chilean reality show next year. It's called Peloton, which means Squadron (I think-I'm not gonna like, I'm not great at translating military terminology). The premise is sort of like Survivor except they're not on an island. A group of kids is sent to this big farm/ranch house outside of Santiago. Once they get there, they are divided up into teams and the teams compete against each other every week. Before they go into competition each team has to nominate one member of their squad who would be the nominee for the elimination challenge were that team to lose. Then the public votes for another nominee to go to the elimination challenge, and everyone in the house votes in a Codigo de Honor, or Honor Code vote for the third nominee. The three elimination challenge nominees compete against each other and a loser is eliminated every week.

I want to be on this show SO BAD!!! Not because the prize money is that amazing (although, hey, who wouldn't be happy with an extra $20,000 extra bucks in their pocket), but because the challenges and competitions look so fun!!!! They do all these crazy obstacle courses, the other day the elimination nominees had to run around the ledge of a 15 story building, just all sorts of cool stuff like that. It seems right up my alley :) Plus, I look at some (ok, most) of the girls that are on the show right now and they are SUCH wimps! There is this one girl who faints constantly, another one who can only run for like 2 minutes at a time before she wants to die, another girl just cries about everything. Pick me, producers, pick me! I'm not scared! Although, maybe that's the idea, they have girls that create drama and kick up a fuss about everything. I suppose that might draw in ratings.

If I did go, I'm almost certain that I'd get voted by the public to be the elimination nominee every time. I'm sure Chileans absolutely do not want someone to win their reality show, who isn't, well, Chilean.

Anyways, auditions aren't until this season is over, so that's like next March. I've got plenty of time to get ready :)

Peloton definitely sounds like "Platoon" in English or "Pelotudo" in Argentinian.

I think that would be so fun!!
I wonder if they tell the women to act more...well....stereotypically woman-ish. Didn't you say that it is very macho over there? Not sure then that the Chilean men are going to want to see strong, independent women.

I would actually think that the Chilean public will keep you on for a while. I am sure there are enough pelotudos who like the little blond gringa. Now... the other contestants, they might be another story.

Mom, insurance, got it covered no worries...and to anonymous, YES! Platoon is the correct translation...I couldn't for the life of me remember the word. Thanks!

Rachel, I'm pretty sure they don't have to tell the women to act :)

Clare, hopefully the other contestants would like me, but we'll have to see!

You SO should try out! The reality game shows are fun...and you never know how people will feel about foreigners...but that could be your "shtick" to get you on the show!

I wish I had a partner that would try out for Amazing Race with me!

You think that's an accident?

Also, I watched that show once and they might have changed the rules but they had girls competing against guys which seemed odd but what do I know about the army.

Hahaha, Jayna, I would totally go on amazing race with you...we could be the first partners that don't actually know each other :)

Chileno, I don't know if it's an accident...last season of Peloton the girls on it were really tough and in great shape. Out of like twenty participants, 1 girl and 2 boys made it to the final three. But this season the girls are a LOT weaker and the show just added more guys, 4 more to be exact. I am getting the idea that they're trying to eliminate the really weak girls. It's painful to watch.

Oh, I double-dog dare you to try out! I actually think your gringueza (is that an actual word?) may work in your favor for the novelty value. But the try-outs would be a fun experience even if you didn't get picked. Please try out!

It sounds like a lot of fun. I've thought about trying out for a show like this before, but I think Matt would absolutely be against me leaving for that long.

I agree with the other comments, you could definitely play on your differences and you'd kick butt in the physical challenges.

You'd have to tape it and post a link to the video. I've never seen a Chilean game show.

Ha! You should do it. Even just trying out would be a very bloggable experience.

it is a slightly crazy, but fun idea! you could use both your wits and your good looks to win.

Partners meeting for the first time at the auditions...that could be good!!! (And we could of course convince them we'd help PR by blogging at every pit stop! Hehehe)
